Since July of 2020, we have had the pleasure of designing the Penn State Alumni Association Delaware County Chapter Website.

Below is a behind-the-scenes look at their website was developed.

Problem:

The Delaware County Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association needed a new website to promote chapter happenings. They also needed a site that lets them sell items for fundraisers throughout the year.

They also need this to be:

  • Editable to change the looks to fit the Penn State Alumni Association branding guidelines

  • Easy to add content

  • Have the information posted all over the website for users

  • Make their content visually pleasing

Steps to Solve the Solution:

  1. Researching Phase: I visited the other local chapters to get an idea of the project and make the organization stand out.

  2. Flow Charts: I created the flow charts to show how the website will flow.

  3. Wireframe Stage: Used wireframing programs to develop wireframes to see how the site would look.

Store Creation

Problem:

In September of 2021, the organization had its annual Ice Cream Scholarship Drive that ended in October. They wanted the store set up to perform the following:

  • Have multiple purchases

  • Have it easy for users to buy more than one ice cream flavor in one purchase

  • Be able to tie into the organization's PayPal account

  • Easily be removed when the fundraiser ended

Solution:

Using the site builder's commerce app made this painless. My recommendation was to have all the ice cream listed. From a tech standpoint, it's keeping it simple; so people don't email us that they're having problems selecting multiple variants. They pick the flavors and quantities they want all in one shot. We did this with the Cheese baskets as well.

To give the Penn State Berkey Creamery feel, we took the photos and the product descriptions from the Berkey Creamery Website and Facebook page.

The ease of having a site builder platform allowed the store and the products to easily be hidden and removed to prevent any sales when the fundraiser ended.
